As summer winds down and the back-to-school season kicks into high gear, this time of year often brings a mix of reset and overload. Routine shifts, packed schedules, and changing expectations can stretch our executive function and nervous systems to their limits—especially for those of us who spend our days caring for everyone else.

If you are feeling the weight of this transition, remember that you don't have to navigate it alone or in survival mode. We have a lot of exciting updates at Even Keel Health designed to make your care more accessible, holistic, and connected.

Welcoming Reid Byrne, PMHNP

To better support our community, I am thrilled to introduce our newest Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner: Nancy "Reid" Byrne.

Reid brings a deeply unique background to our practice. As a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, theologian, massage therapist, Reiki Master, and certified nurse midwife, her path to psychiatric care is rooted in deep empathy, somatic awareness, and whole-person healing.

How Reid Can Support You:

  • Tailored ADHD & Medication Care: Comprehensive evaluations, psychiatric medication management, and medical cannabis certifications.

  • Trauma-Informed Support: Integrative therapy incorporating mindfulness, somatic practice, and meaning-making for burnout, complex trauma, and major life transitions.

  • Specialized Focus: Dedicated care for caregivers, healthcare professionals, first responders, veterans, military families, perinatal clients, and those seeking preparation and integration for plant medicine modalities.

  • She is taking new patients and open to seeing current patients in the practice via Telehealth services and soon also doing in person visits.

New: Executive Function & Coaching Group Visits

We are introducing Group Visits focused specifically on coaching, skill-building, and executive function challenges (note: these groups are dedicated to strategies and peer support, not medication adjustments).

  • Cost-Effective Care: Group visits allow us to use a different billing structure, drastically reducing out-of-pocket costs.

  • Great for High Deductibles: If you have a high-deductible health plan, this is an affordable way to receive consistent, ongoing support without heavy medical expenses.

Launching a Local CHADD Chapter in Richmond!

I am starting a local chapter of CHADD (Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) right here in Richmond to build more community, connection, and education for neurodivergent individuals and their families.

We need volunteers! If you are interested in helping launch or run local support efforts, please reach out to let us know you'd like to get involved.

Practice Updates: Insurance & Website

  • Insurance Expansion: We now accept Sentara Commercial Health Plans!

  • New Website Coming Soon: We are currently designing a brand-new website to make scheduling, accessing resources, and staying connected even easier. Stay tuned for the reveal!

Ready to find your balance this season?

Whether you want to schedule a 1-on-1 consultation with Reid, join an upcoming group visit, or volunteer for the new Richmond CHADD chapter, we are here to support your journey.
